About the Artist
Two disciplines, one way of seeing.
I work in two mediums that may seem unrelated: camera and oil paint. One captures; the other constructs. Both depend on seeing clearly — beyond assumption — and composing each image to convey how the subject makes me feel. My goal is to translate that vision so others can feel it, too.
My photography began with landscapes and the patience of waiting for unexpected light. Over time, I saw that my photographs did not fully express what I felt in the moment. That question led me to oil portraiture, where drawing and painting faces taught me how light and shadow create dimension on a flat surface. I learned that perfection is not the goal; the process is. Most importantly, failure became a source of insight and problem solving.
Recently, I have returned to landscapes, using both camera and paintbrush to express what a scene evokes in me. My passion is finding and conveying the serenity I see in the universe.
On the work

Every piece in this studio — whether made with a lens or a brush — begins with the same impulse: to find the moment when a place reveals something about itself. That might be the quality of light at 4am on a mountain, or the way a wave breaks differently than you expected, or the colour a sky turns in the last ten minutes before dark. The work is the record of paying attention.
Photography
Landscape, travel, and astrophotography. Shot on location, often in remote or difficult conditions, with an emphasis on natural light and long exposure.
Oil Painting
Landscape and seascape in oil on canvas. Influenced by the British and French plein air traditions, but worked primarily in the studio from field studies and memory.
